Multi-Grain Cereal
Bill’s Super Healthy, 10 cent per Serving, Tasty Breakfast
Purchase about a quart, by volume, each of several *organic*
whole grains. These can number from four to eight. I usually use about six so this is a form of “six-grain cereal.”
Examples are wheat berries, rye, tritacale, millet, corn, etc. These are to be uniformly mixed together in a large
plastic food bucket and frozen for storage.
To prepare: fill a quart jar with the whole grains and process them through a grain grinder. I have used one with
a handle, for manual turning, for decades and love it. Once ground, pour out one level cup of the grind for cooking
and return the ground up remainder back to the freezer.
Bring to a boil three cups of water. Add the cup of ground grain and simmer for 20 minutes.
While waiting, prepare several large cloves of fresh garlic by crushing them through a press.
Next, grind up about one cup of flax seed in a blender.
When cereal cooking is done add the garlic, a couple of tablespoons of fresh ground flax seed (freeze the remainder)
, and a couple of tablespoons of nutritional yeast. Mix these thoroughly and serve. What is not served may be refrigerated
for another morning. That cup of cooked cereal will feed us two people for at least two meals. Season to taste.
I prefer Spike brand seasoning salt.
Serve with orange juice laced with vitamin C crystals.
